The elbow is susceptible to injury conditions such as fractures and dislocations. Overuse-related conditions, such as tendinitis and bursitis, can also develop in the elbow. A common degenerative condition causing elbow disorders is arthritis.
At Tender Palm Hospital, we have orthopedic surgeons with high experience levels who diagnose and treat all elbow injuries and conditions. Our treatment for patients will be tailored according to the severity of the injury, the patient's general health condition, and what needs to be achieved during recovery.
The following are some of the treatments:
Non-surgical treatment:
Rest, ice, compression, and elevation (RICE)
Immobilization with a splint or cast
Physical therapy for range of motion and strength
Medications for the reduction of pain and swelling
Surgery treatment:
Arthrolysis – A procedure to free a stiff elbow joint caused by injury or arthritis, helping restore movement and reduce pain.
Arthroscopy - Elbow – A minimally invasive surgery where a tiny camera is inserted into the elbow joint to diagnose and treat problems like swelling, loose cartilage, or bone spurs.
Distal Biceps Tendon Repair – A surgery to fix a torn biceps tendon near the elbow, often caused by heavy lifting or sudden strain, helping restore arm strength and movement.
Elbow Replacement – A procedure to replace a damaged elbow joint with an artificial one, usually needed due to arthritis or severe fractures, relieving pain and improving mobility.
Elbow UCL Reconstruction (Tommy John Surgery) – A surgery to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament (UCL), commonly performed on athletes like baseball pitchers to restore elbow strength and stability.
Tennis Elbow Surgery – A treatment for severe elbow pain caused by overuse of forearm muscles. If non-surgical treatments fail, surgery removes damaged tissue to relieve pain and restore function.
