Overview

Tender Palm Women Health specializes in diagnosing and treating infections that affect a woman's gynaecologic and reproductive health. These infections may include those of the female reproductive tract, female genitalia, infections during pregnancy, pelvic infections, post-operative infections, and sexually transmitted infections.

Additionally, we evaluate and treat non-infectious disorders of the vulva, as well as conditions affecting the vulva and vagina. This includes addressing symptoms such as vulvar and vaginal pain, lichen sclerosis, and dermatitis.

Disease & Conditions We Treat:

  • Auto-Immune Disorders (like Bechet's): The body's immune system mistakenly attacks healthy cells and tissues in auto-immune disorders.
  • Bartholin's Cyst: The fluid of the gland may become obstructed, inflaming it and resulting in a cyst.
  • Condyloma Accuminata (Genital Warts): Genital warts are growths or bumps that can appear on the penis, vagina, vulva (the vaginal lips), cervix (the opening between the vagina and the uterus), rectum, or groin. These warts are caused by several different strains of a virus known as human papillomavirus (HPV). There are more than 60 types of HPV, with some specifically associated with genital warts.
  • Contact or Irritant Dermatitis of the Vulva: A condition where allergens or irritants cause itching and burning of the vulva or vagina.
  • Desquamative Inflammatory Vaginitis: This condition involves inflammation of the vaginal lining, often characterized by greenish-yellow vaginal discharge, vulvar irritation, and pain during intercourse.
  • Genital Graft vs Host Disease (GvHD) is an immune disorder complication arising after stem cell transplantation. The signs are dryness, burning, itching, vulva tender to touch, and painful coitus
  • Hepatitis A: Hepatitis is an inflammatory disease of the liver. Viruses cause most hepatitis, but alcohol, drugs, and many other factors can also cause hepatitis.
  • Hepatitis B is a very severe form of hepatitis caused by a virus. It can infect anyone at any age around the globe. The virus attacks the person's liver. It can seriously affect the condition, damage the liver, and, in some extreme cases, end with death.
  • Hepatitis C: Hepatitis C is a virus that infects the liver. It is primarily spread through parenteral means (infected needles or blood, not tainted food).
  • Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV): The herpes simplex virus (HSV) has two subtypes: herpes simplex type 1 (HSV-1) and herpes simplex type 2 (HSV-2). HSV-1 primarily occurs on or around the mouth and is commonly known for causing cold sores or chancres. HSV-2 usually affects the genital area and is commonly known as "genital herpes." This herpes virus spreads through close personal contact, including kissing and sexual intercourse. Genital herpes is categorized as a sexually transmitted infection (STI).
  • Hidradenitis Suppurativa: A chronic disease causes groups of abscesses or lumps to form under the skin.
  • Human Immunodeficiency Virus: HIV, or human immunodeficiency virus, is the virus that leads to AIDS, or acquired immune deficiency syndrome. This virus weakens a person's ability to fight off infections and cancer. A person is considered to have AIDS when HIV makes them very sick, and they develop certain infections or cancers. Thanks to advances in technology and new medications, our team can help these patients live productive lives.
  • Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID): Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) is an infection that affects the female reproductive organs. It occurs when bacteria travel upward from the vagina. PID can cause damage to the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, and other parts of the female reproductive system. This condition can lead to significant pain and may make it difficult for a woman to become pregnant.
  • Post Herpetic Pain/Neuralgia: Nerve pain caused by damage from the varicella zoster virus.
  • Recurrent Bacterial Vaginosis: An overgrowth of bacteria that would normally be found in the vagina.
  • Recurrent Vaginal Yeast Infections: When the population of yeast in the vagina grows out of control, a yeast infection is said to occur.
  • Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI): Sexually transmitted infections, known as STIs, are diseases transmitted through sexual contact with an infected person.
  • Syphilis: This is a bacterial infection caused by Treponema pallidum, which is sexually transmitted through sexual contact with an infected person.
  • Tubal Ovarian Abscesses: Tubal ovarian abscesses are a serious complication of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and can be life-threatening if not managed properly.
  • Vaginitis: "Vaginitis" is a term used to describe various conditions that cause infection or inflammation of the vagina. Symptoms of vaginitis can differ based on the underlying cause. Some women may not experience any symptoms at all. Vaginitis can be infectious when it is caused by Candida, bacterial vaginosis (BV), or Trichomonas vaginalis. Additionally, it can result from allergic contact dermatitis or inflammatory conditions. Other vaginal disorders include atrophic vaginitis, desquamative inflammatory vaginitis, lichen planus, and lichen sclerosis.
  • Vulvar Abscess - This is an infection that develops in vulvar skin or subcutaneous tissues.
  • Vulvar Lichen Planus- It is an inflammatory disease that causes an itchy or burning rash or painful purple lesions may occur on the skin of the arms or legs or can affect the vulva and vagina.
  • Vulvar Lichen Sclerosus: This chronic disease mainly affects the vulva, though it may sometimes involve some other parts of the skin outside the genital region.
  • Vulvodynia and Vulvar Vestibulitis: Condition described as chronic pain inside the vulva that is also the entrance to the vagina and the urethra.
  • Yeast Infections: A yeast infection is due to fungi, which naturally thrive in the human body. (Yeast is a type of fungus). When there is a chemical imbalance in the vagina, the fungus begins multiplying at too high a rate and creates symptoms. The vagina is the part of a woman's body that is most affected by yeast infections.
