Five-and-a-Half-Hour Surgery Saves Gyan Vati's Life at Tender Palm Hospital

At Tender Palm Hospital, we recently came across a patient who had a complex neurological condition. Mr. Ashok Kumar brought his mother Gyan Vati to us from Sant Kabir Nagar. She had problems like sudden dizziness, fainting, convulsions, vomiting and eventually coma at home. Initially, she was treated in Basti and later in a private nursing home in Lucknow. Mr. Kumar, acquainted with our hospital through Dr. Rahul Yadav of our Urology Department, approached him for advice. Dr. Yadav recommended renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Prarthana Saxena due to the suspected neurological nature of the disease.

The patient was having frequent seizures, which was potentially life threatening. Dr. Saxena diagnosed him with cavitary deformity with edema, a condition that required neurosurgery. Mr. AshokKumar, a government employee, needed time to arrange the necessary formalities through his railway affiliation with Tender Palm Hospital. After 15-20 days, they returned, and Dr. Saxena and his team began treatment immediately.

The MRI revealed that the patient had a large vascular malformation (AVM), a complex tangle of blood vessels in the brain. The tumor was quite large, about a quarter of the size of the brain. Due to its size, the AVM could not be treated with less invasive methods, and surgery was deemed necessary. Dr. Saxena and his team successfully removed the entire tumor during a five-and-a-half-hour operation. Remarkably, the patient showed no neurological deficits after the surgery.

The patient's recovery has been exceptional. She can now walk, eat and drink, and all her movements are normal. Concerns about possible vision loss proved to be unfounded and her vision remained unaffected. The patient responded remarkably well to the surgery and quickly returned to her normal activities.

Mr. AshokKumar and his family expressed their deep gratitude to Dr. Prarthana Saxena, her entire team, and all the staff of Tender Palm Hospital for their exceptional care and dedication. He appreciated the hospital's facilities, affordable rates, and helpful staff, especially for middle-class patients. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in his mother's care.
