Timely intervention of the Vascular Surgery Team saved the patient's leg from amputation due to gangrene

Mastram, a resident of Ambedkar Nagar, is fighting a medical issue that may turn out to be life-changer. The leg infection with which he has been suffering has worsened into gangrene -- an infection so acute that amputation is usually the only cure.

It was at Tender Palm Hospital where Mastram was evaluated by a team of specialists: Dr. Ashutosh Kumar Pandey, the vascular surgeon, and plastic surgeon Dr. Neelam Chauhan. They assessed the seriousness and compiled an overall treatment plan.

Dr. Ashutosh performed a bypass surgery to restore blood circulation to the leg of Mastram. It was an essential procedure in battling the infection for the wound to heal. Simultaneously, he treated the gangrenous sores by debriding them -that is, removing the dead tissue-which prevented further infections.

With Mastram's health improving, Chauhan began with skin grafting procedures to cover the affected areas. The technique was simply taking healthy skin from other parts of Mastram's body and transplanting it to the wounds; it didn't accelerate healing but helped recover faster.

The medical team in Tender Palm Hospital, through combined expertise and dedication, worked to bring about an improvement in Mastram's condition. His wounds healed, and he could walk once more. His leg was saved from amputation because of this successful treatment, thereby improving the quality of his life.
